STAFF – National Pain Report


Ed Coghlan is a founding partner of the National Pain Report. Ed was previously news director for the Montana Television Network, where he and his news service won dozens of awards for reporting and programming. He then served as news director for KCOP-TV in Los Angeles, where he led the station to its highest ratings ever. Ed is also Chairman of the Board of the Unusual Suspects Theater Company, which uses theater to reach at-risk youth in Los Angeles County.


Ellen Lenox Smith lives with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), SARCOIDOSIS and other chronic pain. Ellen is a board member of the US Pain Foundation. She and her husband Stuart are co-directors of medical cannabis advocacy for the US Pain Foundation. They are also board members of the Rhode Island Patient Advocacy Coalition. Donna Gregory Burch was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2014 after several years of pain, fatigue and other unexplained symptoms. She was later diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease. Donna is an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared online and in newspapers and magazines in Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Joanna Mechlinski Joanna Mechlinskiis a permanent resident of Connecticut who has struggled with several chronic illnesses since her early 20s. A former journalist, she is an avid reader, passionate about animal rescue and moving it forward. She shares her personal perspective and observations for the National Pain Report.

Katelyn O’Leary is a graduate of Indiana University and Carnegie Mellon University and is a native of South Bend, IN. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California, where she has been living for a few years. She has CRPS and is also coping with chronic pain the best way she knows how: by writing about it! She loves too many books and drinks too much coffee, and she’s a strong advocate for not only the CRPS community but the global chronic pain community as well.

radnovichRichard Radnovich DO is an Idaho pain physician who treats chronic pain, sports medicine, and injury. He is a respected clinical researcher who participates in national clinical trials for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He writes for the National Pain Report on a number of topics.

Liza Zoellick is a chronic pain warrior from Houston, as well as a mother of four daughters, wife of an amazing man, and furry mom of two dogs and a cat. Lisa shared her journey through chronic pain and illness on her blog: – trying to make sense of the madness she finds herself in. Lisa believes in a holistic approach, which means it takes more than just medication to get you through this; however, she also believes that medicine is a necessity. She decided to share her story in response to the large number of women who feel hopeless and alone and abandoned by the medical system – and to let them know that they are not alone.
