Towards the end, you also don’t care if it’s a musical.
So there was this show on British television last night.
A musical wedding can seem a bit too much.
But believe me … the musical is so much more meaningful and emotional than you initially expected.
The service began with words from Stephen Fry: “Beloved Ones. We are gathered here today to witness something so extraordinary at this time …”
We were then introduced to the happy couple.
The wedding participants began to sing.
They sang pretty catchy lyrics.
Even Newsreader Jon Snow (not to be confused with THE Game Of Thrones’ Jon Snow) sang about it.
But then they started walking down the aisle.
And looked at each other with pride.
SAME SEX TELEVISION WEDDING.
The politicians sent their congratulations.
Andy Bell from Erasure performed “A bit of respect”.
And key moments in LGBT history were shown.
Leading you to truly consider how much LGBT rights have advanced in such a short period of time.
And then, out of nowhere, the mothers of the two newlyweds sang about how they came to terms with the release of their two sons.
And how proud they are right now.
Wow. It was much more moving than I initially thought.
Benjamin and Nathan * sang * their vows.
And properly started to cry and all.
You really started to worry about what same-sex marriages mean.
Although some people were confused.
So, this moment … “You can now kiss the groom.”
It didn’t even have to be a musical to be televised.
This, alone, is awesome.
