Variety expands TV editorial team with three new hires

Variety has expanded its TV newsroom with three new hires.

Emily Longeretta, former entertainment editor for Us Weekly, has joined Variety’s Focus Department as Senior TV Features Writer, overseeing features related to TV and the 10 to Watch franchise, Impact Lists and other franchises. She will work closely with Editor-in-Chief, TV Awards and Associate TV Editor Michael Schneider and other editors to lead TV reporting and coverage of awards season. She will be based in Los Angeles.

Jennifer Maas, a former TV reporter for The Wrap, has signed on as a TV business writer, based in New York. Maas will cover TV industry news as well as corporate earnings, financial news and analysis, mergers and acquisitions and business, reporting to Variety co-editor Cynthia Littleton.

Selome Hailu, who joined Variety last year as an intern, was promoted to reporter. Based in Los Angeles, she will focus on working with Schneider to cover the beat of TV awards, as well as reporting on Hollywood’s creative community and the inner workings of networks, studios and streamers.
